The Prisoner
A downloadable game
You are not of this era, but of one to come or from before. Yet, you are not a prisoner of Time, but of Space. Either you have committed a crime deemed unforgivable or you have stuck your nose in the wrong space at the wrong time. Your liminal infraction has led to your capture and sentencing.
Your jailers? The St. Joseph of Cupertino Society of Space.
Your punishment? "You must witness the Rise and Fall of London and everything that shall occur in between." Every stone, every street, and every person in this wretched city has a story and it is your burden to gaze upon them with your own eyes.
Whatever the reason for your imprisonment, you have been assigned to work for Hargrave House in a consultative manner. Once your contribution has been deemed significant and worthwhile, your time at Hargrave House will come to an end. You will be sent back to your sentence of wandering the streets for the rest of eternity.
Or so this so-called Society thinks.
A Playbook for The Between by Jason Cordova
Created by Wes Franks
ST. JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO SOCIETY OF SPACE Threat by Daniel Qualls
Special Thanks to Megan Caldwell, Daniel Qualls, and the Gauntlet Community
Inspired by Andrew Norton, a character from Slow Chocolate Autopsy (1997) by Iain Sinclair and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (1999) by Alan Moore, the TV Series Loki (2021) and the film Everything, Everywhere, All At Once (2022)
A Note: This is the first thing I ever wrote for a CfB game. It is a love letter to a wacky and offensive graphic novel series and a film that touched my heart. I hope it becomes timeless.
It includes a Threat written by Daniel Qualls. It was tossed through the Gauntlet Design Pool and they each laid a finger upon this piece. It felt very appropriate to place it in the first The Between focused Springs & Kindling. And now it is available on it's own.
I hope you have fun.
